My fishing career started with catching minnows in the local creek, then casting them from the shorelines of what are now suburban lakes near the Twin Cities of Minnesota. On a really good day I got to go in a row boat with my Grandpa. Early years of deer hunting in the big woods of far Northern Minnesota with friends and extended family gave me an appreciation for the comfortable camaraderie of traditional hunting camps. Now, high price power boats, full color electronics, shoreline development, cutting of the big woods, GORE-TEX, trail cams, etc. have changed the way we enjoy the outdoors. Yet what hasn’t changed is the excitement of catching a glimpse of that big buck in the snow, or the taste of a hot cup of coffee while watching the sun burn the early morning fog off the lake.

Greg’s Guide Services uses my years of experience to help you have the best outing possible. Whether you are an experienced archer or a novice fisherman, I’ll work with you to teach you useful techniques I’ve learned along the way. Or, if you prefer, I can skip the basics and take you right to the hot buck scrape or fishing hotspot. We don’t get a trophy every time out but we do strive to make every day in the outdoors a pleasant and memorable experience. I also have the patience, skills, and basic equipment to provide a great day for kids, adult novices, or even that irritating brother-in-law you have to entertain for the weekend. Even if the fish aren’t biting, it’s hard to beat an evening cocktail tour of the many islands and sandy beaches on the Chip.

I’ve been fishing the Chippewa Flowage and other Hayward Wisconsin area lakes since 1988, learning the lakes from many local residents and fishing guides. My first year of deer hunting in Unit 9 provided the buck that’s now on my office wall so I bought the land that produced him. I established my hunting camp there in the early 90’s and have been roaming the same lands ever since. We’ve been making Maple Syrup on this land since 1998.
